About Us
Tony and I started breeding Connemaras 22 years ago after buying Whitwell Senator (left) as an 8 year old from his breeder Janet Mill. When we visited her stud in Shropshire it wasn't our intention to buy a stallion but a mare instead. When we got home we couldn't stop talking about the stallion Whitewell Senator, we were so impressed with his bone, depth and temparament. This was the start of Tyan Stud.
Our first brood mares were Chiltern Replica (Island Duke x Arctic Moon) and Millie of Abbeyleix (Carna Dun x Clifden Molly).
Senator proved to be very fertile and so we had our first crop of foals the following year. With Senator being a good performance pony and ride for me we couldn't have asked for any more.
We then obtained Georgy Girl (Lewcombe Piccolo x Hyndon Glencara Suzy) and lastly Lanburn Leonie (Cocum Hawkstone x Nettina).
We visited Ireland twice in 2002 and a lot of time was spent digesting the CPBS stud books before we went to see any ponies. After seeing many young stallions we chose MacCloonisle a 2 year old by Cloonisle Cashel out of Lor Ruadh 4th, a really stunning looking boy with excellent movement. We believe he will be of interest to breeders far and wide for his movement and quality which should enhance the popularity of the Connemaras for many years to come.

| If you had to advise people 2 things of what to look for in a Connemara Pony, what would they be? | Good temperatment. Good bone and movement. |
